This past summer I completed an internship with Unique Vacations, Inc., where I worked as a Sales and Events Intern for Sandals and Beaches Resorts in the Caribbean. This position was part of the Future Forward Internship Program, which provided an immersive experience in hospitality sales and event planning for one of the industry's most well-known brands. My responsibilities included working with the sales department  team to plan and coordinate trade sales events, as well as handling special projects that focused on expanding the brand's growth.

A key part of the internship was an unique group project in which us interns were tasked with creating an entirely new resort concept that differed from the brand's traditional style. Our goal was to present an innovative property that might appeal to a new demographic of guests while staying within Sandals' values of luxury and high standards of service. We worked together to create a full launch plan for this concept. This is where each of us had the floor to expand on our departmental specialties. For instance, I created the sales plan and promotional events that we would implement for our new resort.

Throughout the internship, I was able to work on projects that required both planning and creativity. When coordinating sales events I would be responsible for organizing the portal in which the event was posted and how managing vendors internationally works. This experience not only improved my skills to plan and organize travel events, but it also helped me understand the role that sales and events play in a hospitality brand's overall goals. Overall, this internship provided me with valuable industry experience.
